Find the Path Less Traveled – Where Are The Dirt Bike Trails?
By dirt bike mike | May 10, 2009

Thirty some odd years ago, finding dirt bike trails was not as difficult as it is today. Bikers would use gas company right-of-ways which connected to networks of trails through farms, pastures and undeveloped land. Though much of the land had "no trespassing" signs or booby traps to discourage bikers, nobody was really too worried about it - and in fact if made riding that much more fun because it added a sense of danger and that 'rebel without a cause' feel to it.
But as fun as that was, those days are gone and finding a great place to ride can be difficult. So if you're looking for a place to ride and be welcome, here are a few tips.
- You can visit or call your local conservation department and get maps which will tell you where the trail heads are and if they allow bikes or not. They will usually be able to help you, or be able to guide you to someone who can.
- If you live near a national or state forest, you can visit or call the rangers station and should be able to find trails and areas in the forest to ride.
- Trail Source is a paid service you can use to find trails in not only your area, but across the country and around the world. There are a number of plans available and you should find the most economical one to meet your needs.
- And last but certainly not lest, visit you local Dirt Bike Dealer and ask about trails or riders associations who would be able to tell you about trails in your area.
